ArticleFerry Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026 · Contact: quietmooringsoftware@gmail.com
ArticleFerry is a browser extension that turns web articles into EPUB files so you can read them on a Kindle device or app. It is not affiliated with Amazon.
Summary
- Article extraction and EPUB generation run on your device.
- We do not operate a backend, account system, or email-sending server.
- We do not sell or share your data. We do not use analytics SDKs.
Data processed locally
| Data | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Page content you choose to convert | Browser memory / tab | Build a clean article and EPUB |
| Settings (Kindle email, sender email) | extension storage | Prefill Gmail compose |
| Number of EPUBs made this month | extension storage | Shown to you in the popup; never sent anywhere |
| Reading queue (articles you save to send later) | extension database on your device (IndexedDB) | Build a later EPUB digest or PDF; deleted when you remove the item or the extension |
| Review-prompt counter (number of successful sends, whether you dismissed the prompt) | extension storage | Show the “rate ArticleFerry” card at most a few times |
| Pro licence key and activation id (Pro users only) | extension storage | Confirm your Pro licence |
Network
Optional image fetches may contact image hosts so pictures can be embedded in the EPUB. If you choose “Download & open Gmail”, ArticleFerry opens Gmail’s compose page with your saved Kindle address in the “To” field; that page is Google’s, under your own Google account. Downloaded files are saved by your browser’s download manager.
When you remove ArticleFerry, your browser opens a short, optional feedback page on our website (articleferry.pages.dev); its address includes only the product name and version, nothing else about you.
Pro licence check
Only if you activate Pro: ArticleFerry sends your licence key, an activation id and a device label such as “ArticleFerry · Chrome · x1y2z3” to Dodo Payments (live.dodopayments.com) when you activate it and about once a day afterwards, to confirm the licence is still active. No page content, browsing history or Kindle address is sent. Pro keeps working offline for up to 7 days.
Amazon Send to Kindle
Email reaches Amazon only when you send it from an address you approved. ArticleFerry never sends mail on your behalf.
Permissions
storage, activeTab, scripting, contextMenus, downloads, alarms (daily licence check and the weekly digest schedule) — used only to convert the page you choose, save the EPUB, and (for Pro users only) run the licence check and the digest you schedule. See the store listing for justifications.
Payments (Pro plan, when available)
If you buy Pro, checkout is handled by our Merchant of Record, Dodo Payments. Dodo Payments collects your name, email address, billing country and payment details to process the payment, calculate tax and prevent fraud, under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address, order details and licence status so we can unlock Pro, provide support and handle refunds. We never receive your full card number. We keep order records as long as needed for support, refunds and legal/tax obligations.
Your choices
Free features need no account. You can delete all local data at any time by removing the extension. To ask about or delete purchase-related data we hold, email us.
Who is responsible
ArticleFerry is made by Quiet Mooring Software, an independent developer based in India (the “data controller” for the small amount of purchase and support data described above). You can reach us at quietmooringsoftware@gmail.com.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you (usually only support emails and, if you bought Pro, order details from Dodo Payments), to correct it, or to delete it, and you can complain to your local data-protection authority. We reply within 30 days. Purchase and support data is used only to provide Pro, support and refunds, and to meet tax and legal duties; it is shared only with Dodo Payments and our email provider, which may process it outside your country.
Children
ArticleFerry is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EU) and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
The use of information received by ArticleFerry adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes
If ArticleFerry ever starts sending any other data off your device, we will update this policy and the store listings before that version is released.
